Beware of Tom's Beer Choices

First, and we should have mentioned this before anything else, is everyone should be wary of any beer recommendations given by Tom. He drinks what I have gathered to be dark, European beers with high alcohol percentages and unpronounceable names. He knows his stuff about beers but his selections are not for the fainthearted, so I'd be skeptical of this 'St. Ides special brew'.

I think since one of ours is up there, the hipsters should send one of their own to St. Petersburg to scope out the scene and make this an official Hipster-Flipster exchange program. I think they'd be pretty impressed with what we've got going on here. Although....there are actually plenty of hipsters here who are either oblivious or unimpressed by the Flipsters.

Finally, after some skillful Wikipedia searching, I have come up with the origin of the label "Peeping Tom" that our own T-Bone detests so very much. It is part of the old English legend of Lady Godiva. Lady G's husband kept the town taxes too high, everyone complained to Lady G, she confronted her husband and he said he would lower them if she rode around the town naked on horseback. She agreed and told the townspeople to close their windows and not look as she rode through the streets. They all complied except one man, a tailor named TOM, who watched her through a hole in his shutters and because of this he went blind. Tom is probably related to this person, but either way this is the guy who sullied his name.

We should have some exciting posts coming up including Zach H's evening at Vintage with Dirt Nasty and Katie O's awesome and ongoing Project Warmth.
